Homicide detectives in Baltimore were searching for a 20-year-old woman who police say went missing under suspicious circumstances.
Tonja Deshaun Chadwick was last seen Saturday in the 3400 block of Mayfield Ave. in Belair-Edison. She was reported missing Monday, when her family told police she had failed to pick up her 4-year-old son.
The father of Chadwick’s 4-year-old son has not yet told the boy she’s missing.
“We just don’t want to tell him anything,” said the father of Chadwick’s son, Deishaun Thomas. “I don’t know you tell a 4-year-old where their mother is at, and you don’t know what to say.”
Her boyfriend, Marco Jamal Holmes, 22 is now considered a person of interest.
Holmes drives a blue 2004 four-door Infiniti G35, with Maryland tags 9cs0691.
The young couple moved in to a Parkside Garden apartment on Thursday.
Prior to being found, according to the Baltimore Sun police officers stated:
We deal with missing persons on a regular basis,” he said. “More often than not, within a day or two, the person is found.”
But Smith said the scene at Chadwick’s apartment and information from her family have made her case especially urgent.
“This, according to her family, is not like her,” he said. “This situation is unusual because she has a 4-year-old child that she’s never abandoned.”
Police allegedly believe Tonja could have been murdered in her own home. There are allegedly numerous undocumented incidents of domestic violence.
City Police located the body of Tonja Chadwick at Daisy Park Thursday night.
Baltimore City Police spokesman T.J. Smith says tips about Tonja Chadwick led officers to North Hilton Street and North Monastery Avenue in southwest Baltimore.
Officers found the body wrapped up underneath debris. According to investigators, it doesn’t appear the body was there long.
Frantic family members of Chadwick were on scene with police.
