In addition to being a triple threat in the entertainment business, the rapper-comedian-actor Donald Glover just won his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the TV show Atlanta. Donald beat out Master of None‘s Aziz Ansari, Baskets‘ Zach Galifianakis, Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson, Shameless‘ William H. Macy and Transparent‘s Jeffrey Tambor—who has won this award previously for two years straight.
During his acceptance speech, he thanked the Academy, his parents, the ‘Atlanta’ writers, FX, the city of Atlanta, his partner Michelle, his family and his unborn son!
“I want to thank Michelle, my partner, you love me even with how crazy I get,” Donald said. “I want to thank my baby, my son, for just being the joy in my life. I want to thank my unborn son, we’re listening to Stevie tonight.”
In his speech, Glover also got political and thanked the President.
“I want to thank [President Donald] Trump for making black people number one on the most oppressed list,” he said. “He’s the reason I’m probably up here.”
