A pregnant woman’s boyfriend set her on fire and critically injures her, forcing her to give birth to her baby. The Prince George’s County police officers and firefighters found the victim, Andrea Grinage in Capitol Heights, Maryland with critical burns on a large part of her body. Andrea told the police that her boyfriend drenched her in a flammable liquid inside the apartment and then set her on fire.
On Friday afternoon, a spokeswoman named Jennifer Donelan told a news conference that Andrea told them that the boyfriend may be on his way to D.C. to probably harm one of her relatives.
“She was very brave. We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was — critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person,” Jennifer said.
The boyfriend later turned himself into the police in Washington, D.C., is being held in custody and charges are currently pending against him.
Fortunately for Andrea, when she got to the hospital, she was able to deliver a baby girl who is seven weeks premature and both Andrea and the baby are doing fine.
