How To Be Thankful This Christmas!

Christmas is not only a day to chow down an entire chicken and honor the birth of Jesus; but also a time to reflect on the amazing things that have happened to you and yours this year.

As human beings, one of our biggest flaws is remembering the bad but never the good. As you journey through the yuletide season, especially today, here are ways to maintain a thankful heart all through!

Remember the people who have stuck around: Many people have confessed that 2016 was a year of “realizing things”, especially who your true friends are. Almost everybody on the planet must have gotten hurt, backstabbed and heartbroken by someone (or people) in their lives. But I’m sure there’s at least one person who remained your backbone through the difficult time. It could be your family, a friend, your colleague, your pet, or the god you worship. Whoever has been a great source of joy and support in your life, even if it’s just one person (or thing), keep them in mind and let them know you’re thankful.

Remember that you have a Place to Rest and Sleep: There are so many people in the world that do not have a roof to put over their heads. Let’s not forget the people in Syria and other war-torn countries, who have been forced to flee their own homes as a result of terrorism and disaster. YOU, on the other hand, have not been subject to such misfortune. It is very important to acknowledge how blessed you are to have shelter from the outside, no matter how big or small it is.

Clothes to Wear Let’s be honest; everyone (including you) bought some sort of new clothing this year. It’s a luxury that many people around the world cannot enjoy. Christmas time is the perfect time to be generous and to donate warm jackets, blankets and other clothing to the homeless shelters or participate in a clothing donation event. Be grateful for all the days you looked good and all the days you stayed warm – because not many people like you have that advantage.

FOOD! -Whether it made us add a ton of weight or not, you can’t deny the immeasurable blessing that is food! You were probably able to put something in your stomach today as you celebrated Christmas. But how about those who are currently starving somewhere in the world? It’s real, but thankfully, it is not your reality. Be thankful for food and make sure you give out any christmas leftovers to someone who’s hungry!

What are you grateful for this season? Please share with us!
